-On Hold-

Well I suppose this was inevitable, and I'm sure many have noticed the status change in the information panel. But for the moment, Last Call is on hold.

This is due mostly to technical issues with the RPG Maker MV engine in regards to deployment and distribution, as well as a general feeling of burnout with the concept. Likely due to the personal events of late spring and throughout summer, but writing a darker and more emotional story such as Last Call just became a depressing thing to think about - especially given that points in the story did reflect my own personal feelings of certain topics and situations. The more I tried to get back into writing the story, the more I ended up pushing myself away from it.

I also admit that part of this came from my organization of the project, which was rather messy. More often than not, I was working off of a general idea of where things went - rather than having something 100% concrete going into it. A good lesson to learn, even if it meant learning it the hard way via project burnout.

So - while not cancelled - Last Call is on hold. I understand this may come as a disappointment (if not worse) to many, and I am sorry for that. Hopefully my reasons for putting the project on hold are understandable enough.

In the meantime, please feel free to check out The Autumn Institute - a cosmic analog horror story inspired by works like Local 58, Gemini Home Entertainment, and Lucio Fulci's The Beyond. While I can't speak too much about it at the moment, there's been great care to fully create the lore of its world before anything else and there is a smaller project - being built in Ren'Py - as the first interactive invitation into that world.

Thank you all so much for your support,

Ian Obst, writer/director of Last Call and The Autumn Institute
